went out of govt cut with my cousins and uncle today. seas were great, it was completely flat out there with no current at all. we caught three bugs (one was massive, included in a picture), two big mangroves, two smaller-sized barracuda, and two fat lionfish. seemed like the whole ocean was dry after the first couple hours of being out. i figured i'd share a few pics- nothing amazing, just something to look at.
not the most incredible day out but i'll still share pics

smaller sized ones were, i saw a bunch of them right around 12" that i didn't bother going after. the one in the picture was 19", it was found solo. the other one that was shot was 17", and that one was swimming alongside another but not in a school. both were in about 30-35' of water.

nice fish and bugs, i also saw plenty of small groves today and massive sized lionfish everywhere

nicely done alejandro.
i ecommend everyone get a pair of hexarmor needle proof gloves for lionfish cleaning. i have a pair and it is almost impossible to be stung through the palm...you have to be almost trying to get poked

Nice. Those little barracuda are cool. Little buggers but they got attitude. haha.

Nice report.

I think that those size class cuda are the best for eating.
-
yeah we see plenty of 5' sized cudas but never shoot at them. we normally just go after the 1-2' ones because those are usually the safest for eating.
-
good thing i dont have to worry about that.....so i still nail the BIG ones

I have been eating those big 30 lb cudas for years out of miami waters for years and still here, nothing like a nice slab of fresh cuda fillet

you never had any issues of eating the bigger ones? i know the older ones get that bacteria that make them dangerous to eat... or is that just an outdated myth?

Ciguatera is not a myth but I have yet to hear of any local cases, use your judgement if the fish is weak and doesn't put up a fight, use him for bait, trigger fish and hogs also get cig

I wanna shoot a snapper.
