I have a friend who has a Cressi Commanche. I think that's it...
It has one 3/4 inch band on it. Are two 9/16 bands comparable in power, assuming I make them the same length....or at 3.5:1 stretch ratio?
Two 5/8"? Seems a bit strong. Plus the guy can't cock the 3/4 band without a rest tab. Seems 5/8 bands would be hard also. Thanks

14mm bands are for girls

But seriously....haha dammit. I'm old. And I have a sore hand.
I'm giving him one of the Pursuit shafts from my Riffe C3X. Belizespearo got some shitty shafts and has broken another one. I think the rest tab is a weak point. ?? But he can't cock the 3/4 band he has without the RT.

'' I think the rest tab is a weak point''. ....Dat's a fact Jack.... Pussy tabs are for kids and girls.;)
Cheers. Don

Hank, I'd like to know the brand of the broken shafts. Do they have a rest tab or a rest notch?
-
Not sure Dan. I'll find out this afternoon.
Pussy tabs....whatever .:) I use the rest tab on the side of my Wongs all the time. Yes, I can cock them without it but I have to really stretch with the gun butt in my chest. Why bother. I want to conserve energy out there.
-
no one is really mocking you Hank..you land a lot more fish these days than everyone else in this thread together
I would go two 5/8 and tie them at 3:1 ration...the comparative reduction in force requiredto pull and the longer length will allow him to load them easier and still probably gain a little power
-
Well, I have to admit....I lied. I CAN'T cock my 55s with a new set of 24 inch 5/8' bands, without using the rest tab.. Jake can....the little prick....
. I can do it with 9/16 and the one slightly bigger in metric. But PLEASE, don't tell anyone. Thanks Judah.
The guy wants a lot of power. Maybe I'll make him two sets of bands. One 5/8 and one the bigger than 9/16 but almost the same, metric.

One more thing...
I have some rubber I bought here in Belize. 5/8, white inside with black outside cover.
I just made a set of two for my 55 and one band was noticeably weaker than the other the first time I cocked them. I cut them from the same roll at the same time. -
loading bands is all technique. Strength helps but technique is more important.
-
Well, we rigged up his gun. He had one 5/8 band on it and I gave him two more, 26 inch ones.
His gun has a shitty design though. It has two band holes. The front one has a slot but the back one doesn't . You actually have to thread a rubber through and tie it afterwards. What a pain in the ass. -
You should just use bands with replaceable wishbones. There's no reason to use another kind of band. Band slots are not necessary, they just weaken the muzzle.
-
As simple as this...
I won't put 2 x 5/8 to that gun. Too much recoil. 2 x 14 mm would be better.

That's what I told him....but I think he read somewhere that 14mm bands are for kids, girls and pussies.
