A little River fishing near the Andes in Chile

  • I had to make an emergency trip to Chile. But things calmed down and was able to get to play a little. I met a guide at a fishing tackle store that was going rafting down the BioBio River targeting trout and was invited to tag along. I had 4 strikes along the 30 km stretch but didn't land anything myself. But the trip was awesome. Small rapids beautiful countryside and I was sent home with a few fish for dinner that evening too. It was nice to be able to feed the family even though I didn't catch the fish. Anyway I will have to come back sometime and redeem myself with some fish. :)

  • Outstanding post:thumbsup2: Love seeing the trout fishing. Man I'm jones'in for a Pisco sour.

    Cheers, Don

I brought a bunch back with me pre mixed so I didn't have to worry about botching it. But you can buy Pisco Capel at BevMo and there is a Chilean deli/restaurant off the 101 if you exit Melrose and Normandie and then turn right, Its called El Rincon Chileno. I like the Deli side a lot; the restaurant I have mixed feelings about. But they do sell Pisco. Last I checked they had Alto Del Carmen which is a really good brand. The restaurant also makes Pisco Sour. If you want to try another really good Chilean drink get a Vaina, its made with Port, Creme de Cacao, Cognac, egg yolk and cinnamon. It's like a light refreshing chocolate milk with a kick. I don't know how else to describe it but it tastes awesome.

  • Very nice. Tiger and speckled brook trout right?

The smaller one is a Rainbow but I wasn't sure what the larger one was. I forgot its name in Spanish. The larger one had orange meat like a Salmon. Both tasted pretty good. :)

  • Thanks for the great info on the Chilean deli.:thumbsup2: I'll stop in when I'm up there.

My best friend survived a car bomb across the street back during the bad times.
When we were back home, we celebrated life by sitting on his couch, drinking two bottles of Pisco and having a knife throwing contest using the wood in the fireplace as a stop. He was using every Henkil knife he could find
in the kitchen. I was using my W-49 Western bowie fighting knife which shattered every blade he left stuck in the wood. After a ass chewing from his now awake wife:@ we headed outside to the yard. The universe spun as we both lie flat on our backs on the dew soaked grass, later we woke up (noon) when his wife soaked us with the garden hose.....Ah Pisco, I remember it well.:D

  • Wow. Nice place. When I was a kid, I knew I was either going to be a forest ranger so I could live in a place like that, or a diver so I could live in a place like I do now.

Henkil knifes. Ouch. Those are nice kitchen knifes. lol. Yeah Pisco has a strange way of getting people into trouble. But it tastes oh so good.

Yeah. It is nice to live in a great location. I just haven't figured out where I want to live next.
