Here's a pair of guns I recently built for some local spearos here in Puerto Rico.
Their nicknames are hilarious but catchy..."Frank Picúa and...Gata Salvaje":laughing3:

Nice job Julio! :thumbsup2:
Luis was telling me about how nice your guns are...
One question? Is there a reason for the bands to go like that? I saw them at "arbalegno" site, but don't remember the reason...
Really pretty guns!
PS: I think the right spell is "salvaje" (in spanish). :rolleyes1:

I'll make sure and add the dot...thanks!The reason for it is that the bands are more in line with the shaft, easier to load being that the wishbones don't catch on the pins but mostly it's aesthetics.
Thanks for the comlpiments.

Nice guns Julio. What are the lenghts? How's the line anchor secured into the wood? I figure it can't be just nailed it in there. If you hit a big fish that's what's going to be holding it.
BTW I know it's pronounced Picúa but the actual spelling is Picuda

Beautiful work. How does your line release work?

Man, that spearguns look as beautiful as Marlene Favela!! A.K.A. Gata Salvaje!!

The line release is pretty much the same as the ones I normally do on the sides. Same principle. The reason I did it on the bottom is because the customer wanted a wider setting on the grip end and that would make the shooting line extend way out so I opted for an underside release to keep everything streamlined.
Thanks to all for the proper spelling:D...I've only been here a year. The funny thing is that they wrote down what they wanted so that's exactly what they got.

Dan,
The guns are 56" stock length and yes, the line anchors are nailed (pressed) waaaay in there. There's no way a fish will pull those things out especially since the pull is coming from an approximate 90 degree angle.

Julio, I like how you put the line release on the bottom, adapted the build to suit the user's needs. Versatility is the mark of a talented builder. How did you get the writing perfect like that?

The writing was freehand...a Dremel, a small ball-shaped bit and a steady hand;). Thanks for the compliments.
