Finished my replacement gun,"The Phoenix", and put to rest "sweet dreams". Now lets see how it shoots.

Cool looking gun, but how do you reach that trigger?
Cheers, Don
Pics can be deceiving with no visual scale.
I'd like to see a pic of the line release pin
I'm glad to see you didn't anchor the bands in the wings. What's the purpose of the funky shape of the band slot?
The pin came out great, I used a long screw of the correct thickness and drilled a hole so the head of the screw sits flush. Way better than the hex screw I had to drill out of the stock.
The purpose of that shape is to remind me to have a firmer grip on the piece when it's in the router.
Hey that fits your hand like a glove:thumbsup2: ....You know what they say about big hands..... big gloves.:D
Now go gets some Pisco and christen that thing. Cheers,
Don
couple more pieces and the bed will fall
Nice gun Davie. Is this one longer the previous. What did you change from previous gun?
It's same length
Changed:
Real Teak
Longer wings
Shorter shaft
Loop bands
Variable height, almost like a hybrid
Angled handle
Nice gun Davie, but why do you have such a short overhang, my guess are 6 or 7 inches tops. Any comments?
Guns with muzzle flip need long overhang to counteract the effects of it. This slows down the shaft alot, not only due to ~20% larger mass but the energy absorbed by the muzzle rising and sending the shaft into a vibratory flight.
The wings should take care of the rise so having a long shaft only slows down the spear.
Ah, Roger that
Very nice.
Wow I'm surprised that such a thin section (extended wood part for the loading pad) of wood can take the force.
•I really like the look of the euro type butt pad on a wood gun,
just seems a little scary with how thin it is.
What band(s) are you using?
Looks to me like it could be a little tricky for your finger to find the trigger fast with such a small space between the trigger and the guard if you're wearing gloves. Why don't you make some more space by anchoring the guard further? Maybe I'm wrong and the reach is so exact that the trigger is right there for you.. Having to insert a second finger into the guard is not a good thing though IMO. The handle is small, I wonder how much leverage it will give you when it's time to track. Use gloves because that thin metal trigger guard will take skin off your fingers eventually because of the recoil.
Not everything is power tools you know.. I'd use files to soften some of the lines on this gun.
I like the angle in the back where the handle and everything is. This gun looks like it was built by an engineer.

Teak fails at 7,000 psi, that thin section will only ever see 240psi max, meaning you can load 30 bands at once before failing the thin section.
Harry is giving me some Rob Allen bands.

That's what testing is for.
DON,all the girls like his big hands,ha
Nice job. I noticed that the wings / band elevators are secured with pins. Are the wings removable, or are the pins just for reinforcement?
Do I see some pins or fasteners in the top of the trigger mech? What mech are you using?
Pins are for reinforcement.
Its a poseidonsub trigger no longer made by poseidonsub. The pins keep the sideplates on.
