A rattle to attract fish?

I'm old school, if I can't get fish to visit with grunts and croaks and a little finger wiggle, I bask in mother natures sweet song. I got a couple small local tuna last month, but it didn't turn me on because guys on the boat I was diving off were fishing, along with chunking and throwing live bait. It felt like putting out a salt lick and whacking Bambi.
Cheers, Don

Seems to work with Ling cod here on the Northern Coast of California. Remembering years ago out scuba diving it seems the first one down to the achor would get a Ling, (the knock of anchor on the bottom was the thought) not always but seemed to be a trend line. I've had them swimming away from me and I would tap my spear into a rock, and it would turn them around.
Was planning a tapiing noise maker for a while, most laughed at me and thought I was crazy.
Had a torsional spring, that you would wind up like an alarm clock. Looked like it would have worked. Needed a longer dwell in it as I recall. Bringing back memories...
I remember the laughing the most.
Prey Fish maybe, non- prey. probably not.
that's my 2 Cents

Fish love rattles in lures. Just saying
-
I've heard that crunching a plastic soda bottle under water attracts sharks.

Will the aluminum make significantly more noise than a pvc section with some ball bearings?

Don´t know, but i guess it would be very easy to make a "home made" version of this thing. I am asking because I am willing to give it a try.
There´s a traditional mexican music instrument called "palo de lluvia" rain stick that works on the same principle

Rain sticks are awesome. Very cool craftsmanship.

I've heard of people using a vibrator (dildo) inside a condom tied with a knot to make it waterproof to attract wahoos. Never tried myself. But makes sense...
-
I would imagine there is some scientific validity to this. I know predatory species are conditioned to react to the vibrations that an injured fish can omit (the reason for rattle traps as Lunker pointed out). Be interesting to see in action for sure.

I think I am going to make a rattle, PVC with bb's inside, epoxy it all closed and ill experiment with it
Tie it off my float line, use it as a noisemaker on my person, put some flasher tape on it and use it like a flasher. Ill see what I find and report back. I think I have all the parts at home already

Remember too that sharks are particularly attracted to such vibrations.

Yep counting on it. I figure the key here is to tap into the predation drive of the eaters I like to eat. Dealing with the big eaters is just part of the game
I also plan to use this judiciously. Like the wiggle your fingers trick. Just something to have in the bag of tools if I need to get a few inches closer to some elusive dinner guest.

Yeah yeah thats what all the guys who get caught with a vibrator and a condom say

Jajaja... This thread is so hilarious...
Any thoughts about rattling devices to attract any particular species though?

Your just going to get snakes , AJ's and big sharks.
