Hi fellow spearos
I have just put the finishing touches on this little gun. 85cm band stretch.
I got a request from a friend to build him a gun for shallow water "aspetto". He had trouble tracking the fast grey mullet (Chelon labrosus), we encounter here in Denmark in summer. I ended up with designing this extreme slim profile (21mm), where I took inspiration from the caudal keel of the mako shark.
I knew that I would be challenged by this thin profile and chose to incorporate carbon fibre in the design, running several layers of both braided an unidirectional fibres along the bottom. I wanted to be able to get a strong grip of the handle, and made a stippling tool to roughen the surface.
The gun has a epoxy finish with a couple of layers of PU varnish. I have tested the gun for tracking and it compares to nothing I have ever tried before.
I hope it will slay many fish for my friend.
