And I got a nice wahoo!
Went out with my two kids (it's becoming usual lately...) and found out that the water was REALLY nice :). Ale kept telling me to bring the woodden gun, but I don't like to take more than one gun because of the limited space in my RIB. He couldn't be more right! Visibility was top to bottom. It just happens few days a year over here... But I took my 110, as usual...
Anyway, as soon as we got into the water, wahoos showed up but were wary and din't want to come close enough for my 110... I shot a nice mutton in the bottom and they showed up again... Of course, with my gun unloaded :rolleyes1:.
Finally, after many tries, I managed to put one in shooting distance and made a mid body shot aiming the spine with no success. The whoo took off and I grabbed Ale's float and clipped to my gun's butt (I use a reel). Ale's float is a small bullet lobster buoy. The wahoo reeled 200 feet of line and took the float (and gun!) 60 feet down! I swam with all my strenght for 15 minutes after it until it finally popped out! at that time, the wahoo was finished and I could retrieve it with no difficulties. The boys were smart and brought the boat close to me to pick me up. Otherwhise, I would have to swim back for another 20 minutes (with a 50 pound fish in my hands!).
When I finally got into the boat, I was finished! So I took the boys to a shallower place and Franco could score this nice grouper.
We had a great dinner with family and friends. :thumbsup2:
