Dan---thank you for taking so much time and effort with me putting my ETPG together, building the brand new bands and posting the pictures of my new gun.:toast2:
-
the gun looks great and those bands are sexy dan... i def need a set of those plugs!!

Today was the second day with my Tin Man / hau ETPG. This gun is the shitz :thumbsup2:
1. Balance=the ETPG with RA reel and Tin Man spike muzzle FLOATS flat with the shaft out:)
2. I do not know what my ETPG weighs, but it is much heavier than any RA. Which means that there is almost no recoil (course my 2 post-op bands are very long also). I would not, but THIS is the pipe gun to put 3 bands on
3. Reloading the spear is effortless compared to any rail gun. Just tip the muzzle up, start the spear in the muzzle and tip the muzzle a little higher and the spear slides down and clicks into place. Pull a band or two back and shoot again if I need to without taking the time to rewrap the line:thumbsup2:
4. The ETPG tracks just like before, maybe better. Before when I turned the RA fast the spear and bands would chatter. Now turning the ETPG is smoother and quiet.
5. The Riffe finned spear is a joy to own and use so far. The Riffe fins add 4 1/2 inch of band pull MORE than the RA spears. NO RUST or even threat of RUST. I used to have to rinse off my RA, dry it with a towel, take the RA spear out, let stand for 15min, then wipe the spear with oil. Now I just rinse the ETPG off in the shower and towel it off=done and NO RUST:thumbsup2:
6. The new freedivingspearfishing bands and SS wishbone pine work great and are the shitz also. The bands pull very smooth with no dead spots and have a lot of power
7. The best way to describe this gun is that it is SMOOTH. It feels smooth, it looks smooth, it works smooth, it shoots fast and smooth.
8. This ETPG is THE highest performance pipe gun ever.:attack3:
(so far I have pulled the trigger 3 times and 3 fish have died. "One shot, one kill")
Thank you Tin Man :thumbsup2: -
Hell Yeah! :hooray: I can't tell you how happy I am that the whole project worked out. I hope it serves you well for a very, very long time!
-
Tin look how happy you made this guy, good on ya mate.:thumbsup2:
Cheers, Don -
Tin Man---I have had at least a dozen other spearos ask me if you will be making any MORE ETPG barrels.
Plus, I would like a spare gun.
Would you make and sell the ETPG barrels?
Thanks -
I just might. Two things would make it a lot easier. First, the use of a Demka or other handle that fits a standard 1" ID tube. Second, if we could find a source for tubes with a 1" ID and a smooth OD of 1.160" or so like yours. Sanding it smooth took a while, and made a heck of a mess. I would love to avoid or at least minimze that on future guns.

Tin Man---I like the "component" approach for spear guns.
Interchangable muzzles, interchangable barrels, interchangable grips/mechs
You already manufacture several different muzzles. You have already built working ET guns with your Lost Wax gun and my ETPG. Seems to me that the only component left if for you to design and build is a grip/mech with a shapelock grip. Using these components every spearo would be happy. 2 band/3 band w/wo spike, CF ET of any length, universal mech/grip with shapelock grip that is guarenteed to fit every spearos hand perfectly. What more would a spearo want from a gun manufacture? Each gun would be custom for each buyer to his needs.
Just an ideaPS---I would like to be your first customer.
Order #1. One Tin Man ETPG, 120cm, 2 band black muzzle w/7mm spike, black shapelock grip with Tin Man right side line release mech. Please send invoice. Thank you -
Maybe we better make sure that the ETPGB that you have now doesn't fall apart after a little while in saltwater.
I need for you to mak a personal sacrifice, and dive as often as you can. For testing purposes . . . :rolleyes1:

I would love to se the pictures of the ETPGB!

Hi Marco, there's some back @ #160.

Give me a chance to find out about that.

I saw hau's new gun and I was impressed again with Tin Man's craftsmanship. The track fits a 7mm shaft perfectly, it doesn't accept the RA 7.5mm shaft. It's glued on the pipe so well, the whole thing is solid like a rock. There isn't even a tiny run of epoxy anywhere. The fit into the handle is very well made. The CF pipe is surprisingly thin but feels very strong with the track on it.
hau was visibly stoked Ensued a discussion on how long to make the bands for :hau: Nothing high tech on my part, just some good band material and my new wishbone inserts for easy installation of the bands in the closed band slot.
Here's the man with his gun.
is that an extra shaft i see stored underneath the barrel? how many manhours on this carbon fiber/track job on the RA?
-
No, it's a shark spike.
