well the hog was 9and a half pounds. i ate it today with my brother and a friend. it was delicious.
i cought it at 50-55 ft or something. it's the biggest i've seen in these waters. when i got to the bottom i was looking around and just when i was about to go up i saw it trying to get away . i moved towards it slowly pulling myself with the bottom and when it turned a bit to see me i shot it and it was over for it. -
Very nice hog!!!!!

This hog was really something special. I know that if I would have seen it I'd get that anxious feeling not to miss that I haven't felt in a long time, and have to force myself to stay calm. It was difficult to take a pic in a way that would do it justice. I asked Pantoja specifically not to hold him out towards the camera.
This fish had a previous healed head injury. May explain why he knew to avoid divers for so long to grow so big. But he didn't count on Pantoja
We went out of Haulover. Vis was hazy and we worked hard, doing many blind dives to 50-60ft as we drifted the reef. Later moving in shallower to 30 where you could just make out the bottom. Pantoja took a slew of other fish including a nice mackerel and mutton. Alan got that fat red. I had a couple of nice fish inexplicably slip of my shaft and ended up with nothing. Other than the fish the guys graciously send me home with that is. I was very happy to be diving normally for the first time in a long time, I've been having upper respiratory problems for a year now. More about this in another thread.

Hell yeah. Very glad you got wet even if you didn't fill the cooler.

Beautiful Fish. Love the image quality. Poster material.

That is one huge hog! Great work!

Thanks for the report. Sergio is still shooting pneumatics or band guns? Which is his favorite size/setup?
Nice perro!
-
Sergio's preference is band guns, and to narrow it down more, a hip loading wood gun with a 7mm shaft and 2 x 16mm bands. Although he'll shoot anything you put in his hand I think with the same result. At this time he's using a gun I built a couple of years ago, this one http://spearfishing.world/spea…ially-enclosed-track.html. I don't know whether he really likes it, it's just what's around now.
