Nice lesser amberjack.
Looks like some good eats!
I liked it.
They appear here when the water temperature drops. When you're with a buddy and do the things right, you can take many of them one after the other. Just need to leave the one you shot in the bottom and the whole school will stay around.
It is productive but not too challenging. My kids love when that happens :rolleyes1::laughing:
Nice video, good Medregal.
Nice. It was like being there.
I rarely see amberjack here. We've gotten a couple over the years.
I see big schools of horse eye jacks though. if I'm on the surface they come right up to me and swim around. But the minute I dive down…….POOF !….they're gone. They're kind of dumb, but also kind of smart.
Hank,
The same thing happens to me with nice sized Spanish Mackerel.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Chase :thumbsup2:
Nice work chase. Looked like a blast.
Nice video and hunting! Ive experienced some really bad "caught with your spear down" situations. Makes me pause a little more these days before pulling the trigger.
One time I was beach diving, took a shot I shouldnt have on a decent grouper that was too far away. Only to turn face to face to a 30lb black holding a gun and a spear
Nice. It was like being there.

The same thing happens in UAE waters with Sea Breams and Mangrove Snappers in the shallows. I hate taking surface shots, I always seem to miss. When I dive, they're gone.
Sorry for the derail chase. Awesome video! The water looks super inviting!
We have those in the Northern Gulf, scared to shoot them when the Amberjack season is closed though. The Marine Police cant tell the difference between Almaco (lesser) and Greater Amberjack.
Some of the Almaco here are 30 or so pounds.
Good video,
the lesser Amberjack are much better on the table.
KC
Nice shot! I wish I were diving with you and had got the other one too! Really nice
Nice shot man
