This is a pic of my first place Cubera in this years Saint Pete Open. It weighed 79.9 lbs after being gutted. Check out the weather in the background. We dodged heavy seas, lightning, and tons of pesky sharks all day. This years tournament had 295 participants from as far away as Hawaii. It was really fun to humble all of the bubble packers. I guess my new less gay speedo attracts big fish. Hahahaha!!:D
Nice Cubera

That is awesome on 2 levels. First being an awesome fish and second on beating the bubblers.
Congrats! -
No surprise here, well done.
Those fish are so hard to land
and you always take the big ones. -
Was it a stone shot or a big fight?
-
Sweet fish
-
Congratulations.

Awesome fish! :thumbsup2:
That pic does not do it justice... a mid 80's cubera is HUGE!
-
Oh man I'd have a field day of picture taking with that fish. That is one big cubera!

Was it a stone shot or a big fight?
Big fight all the way.... Plus I had 2 sharks bum rush me which required bicycle kicks from my Pursuit Carbon Fins to keep them away. The funny part is that I did not even bend my little 9/32 shaft. Now that is pure luck!!

Great fish GR. I supposed that was a good excuse to miss the Chumfest. 1st place at SPO and shoot fish of a lifetime........you deserve it viejo. Big Congrats!:thumbsup2:
-
GR. I am not sure anything with you is luck. If it were me, it'd be luck
-
Nice fish! How deep did you get him? Any story to it?
Congrats! :thumbsup2:
-
awesome fish! yes, tell us the story!
Nice fish! How deep did you get him? Any story to it?
Congrats! :thumbsup2:
if this was spearboard, it would go something like this, "shot it in 85' with one fin, freeshaft and my buddy was right behind me to put second shot, we then extracted fish out of hole in 100'" :thumbsup2:
or even worse,
" i shot it at a deep wreck when I went into silent hunting mode by momentarily stopping suction of my regulator, then turned the scooter straight up full ahead to pull fish out of the wreck, it was the toughest dive ever"
